This tour explores southeastern Sicily, a land where time seems to slow down and cycling becomes the most natural way to move between history, landscapes, and daily life. Quiet roads and rolling terrain guide us from one Baroque masterpiece to the next, through a region where architecture is not just something to visit, but something you live inside.
Riding at a relaxed, recreational pace, we cross a territory shaped by light, stone, and centuries of craftsmanship. From Syracuse and Ortigia to Noto, Scicli, Modica, and Ragusa, each day reveals a different expression of Sicilian Baroque, best experienced from the saddle.
Local food and wine are an essential part of the journey, connecting places, flavors, and traditions into a seamless experience — a ride designed for those who value beauty, authenticity, and the pleasure of moving slowly through extraordinary places.

Day 2 – Noto Loop | 55 km | 974 m elevation gain
The first stage follows the Noto loop, starting with the climb to Avola Antica, a quiet hilltop village overlooking the coast. The route then runs alongside the Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve on a scenic road, with a short stop at the bar located near the canyon entrance, a perfect spot to enjoy the views.
The ride continues toward Noto Antica, the ancient settlement that tells the story of the area before the Baroque reconstruction, before descending back to modern-day Noto to complete the loop.
Day 3 – From Noto to Ragusa | 77 km | 1,314 m elevation gain
Leaving Noto behind, the route climbs through the Val di Noto along the Testa dell’Acqua road, an 18-kilometer ascent leading to Palazzolo Acreide, surrounded by open countryside and rural landscapes. From here, we ride toward Giarratana, a small Baroque village set in the heart of the Iblei Mountains.
Continuing along quiet provincial roads skirting the Calaforno Natural Park, the route reaches the Chiaramonte Gulfi junction before descending toward Ragusa. A long downhill ride brings us to Ragusa Ibla, one of the most important Baroque centers in Sicily, where churches, palaces, and narrow streets create a timeless atmosphere and form the perfect setting to end the day’s ride.
Day 4 – Ragusa loop | 73,5 km | 1,208 m elevation gain
Today’s stage alternates wide open countryside with some of the finest Baroque towns of southeastern Sicily. The ride begins with a climb toward Balata di Modica, featuring a more demanding first section that gradually eases as the road gains altitude.
Surrounded by woods, cultivated fields, and pastures in the heart of the Iblei Mountains, we enjoy the quiet rhythm of rural Sicily before descending toward Modica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Baroque architecture and traditional chocolate.
The route then continues to Scicli, another elegant Baroque town with charming streets and historic palaces, before climbing back toward Ragusa, leaving the towns behind and returning to the peaceful landscapes of the countryside to complete the loop.
Day 5 – From Ragusa to Vizzini | 58,2 km | 1,202 m elevation gain
Today’s stage leads back into the heart of the Iblei Mountains. After a gentle warm-up to Lake Santa Rosalia, a long but steady climb begins toward Monte Lauro, reaching around 1,000 meters above sea level. The road winds through wide green landscapes marked by traditional dry stone walls, open pastures, forests, and panoramic stretches shaped by wind and altitude.
From Monte Lauro, a scenic descent brings us to Monterosso Almo, a small hilltop town known for its quiet streets and authentic mountain atmosphere, before climbing again toward Vizzini. Here, we stay near the historic Cunziria of Vizzini, a unique rural complex where dinner is served in a restaurant set inside a prehistoric cave, offering a truly distinctive end to the day.
Day 6 – From Vizzini to Syracuse | 70,5 km | 814 m elevation gain
The final stage of the Baroque tour leads us toward Syracuse. Leaving Vizzini, we retrace our route back to Buccheri before continuing along quiet roads through the Pantalica Nature Reserve and the Anapo Valley, surrounded by deep gorges and unspoiled nature.
A long descent then guides us all the way to the coast, reaching Syracuse and the island of Ortigia. Here, ancient history, Baroque architecture, and seaside views come together, creating a vibrant atmosphere. We spend the night in Ortigia, the historic heart of the city and the perfect setting to conclude the journey.
Day 7 – Day free in Syracuse
The tour ends with a free day in Syracuse, allowing time to fully embrace the spirit of this extraordinary city. From the archaeological park to the narrow streets of Ortigia, every corner tells a story shaped by centuries of history and life by the sea.
It’s a final day meant for slow exploration, reflection, and simply enjoying the rhythm of a city where ancient history, Baroque elegance, and life by the sea coexist effortlessly — the perfect closing note for a journey built on balance, beauty, and time well spent.
